Program

On Saturday June 5, 2021, the final of the Géza Anda International Piano Competition was held in Zurich, Switzerland. Founded in 1978 by the widow of the Hungarian naturalized Swiss pianist Géza Anda, the competition celebrates the very vast repertoire of the musician. The three finalist pianists interpreted Bartók, Beethoven and Franz Liszt. They were accompanied by the Tonhalle Orchestra of Zurich. The jury awarded its first prize to the German Anton Gerzenberg. He thus won 40,000 Swiss francs, 36,000 euros, a sum exceptionally increased due to the celebration of the centenary of the birth of Géza Anda in 2021.
